Let’s welcome our newest CFR Coach, Rachel Reed!
People have told me it looks like I’m smiling when I assault bike or row…and while it may actually be more grimace 😉 it is true that I enjoy what I do here. From the physical movement performed to the mental lessons learned to the relationships built sweating alongside others, Crossfit has proven to be a convergence of so many of my passions.
I see investing in movement that strengthens my body and brings a smile to my face as one of the many ways I can glorify God, who gifted me this life to begin with. But the physical aspects are only one component to living well, as true health incorporates all areas of life: mental, spiritual, relational…and looks a lot like exploration and focus, discipline and joy. In this way, being fit plays out a little differently for every individual. Which, to me, is the neat part about coaching: the foundation stays essentially the same, but I am assisting each person in their unique journey.
Aiding people to move, breath, and function better through proper form and progressions gets me amped. Because we are more capable than we may imagine (as an over-thinker I can definitely attest to this) but when engaged in a routine of intentional, fun, boundary-pushing…even unimagined possibilities begin to be realized. And this is awesome for everyone involved: coaches and athletes, as it produces an environment where people: attempt, fail, press on, succeed and can feel satisfied through the process.
A few other things to know about me: I’m married to the most wonderful guy, Jon, and we are dog-parents to a sweet but sassy Mini Aussie, Kyanne. As an illustration artist and jewelry designer…my artistic mentality definitely influences how I coach, or rather just how I live in general. I delight in good music and well-brewed coffee. I think laughter may indeed be the best medicine, and would prescribe it alongside a large dose of thankfulness. I love learning new things and meeting people…and I’m stoked to be a part of CFR.
I currently have or am working on Crossfit Level 1 Trainer Cert, Crossfit Mobility Cert., Crossfit Gymnastics Cert, Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism (in progress), and ISSA Specialist in Fitness Nutrition (in progress).
With that, Cheers and let’s lift.
